The SEQUOIA Horizon Europe project will hold its final Workshop on Quantum Imaging on WED 27-May-2026 at the German national metrology institute PTB: Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt.
This in person workshop will cover a range of topics relating to quantum imaging, from hardware (comb sources, SPAD-based imagers) to practical issues (noise, experimental approaches). In addition, the consortium is very pleased to host several prestigious guest speakers who will present in person on key quantum imaging themes and capabilities. The workshop aims to bring together people from quantum imaging research, industry and stakeholders from other disciplines including medicine and ophthalmology.

The work in SEQUOIA is moving on and the project has just issued its fourth newsletter, with updates on:
•New detection scheme for QOCT tested at NCU •SEQUOIA social assessment for impact of QOCT •Time domain QOCT set-up established at DTU •NORBLIS QOCT software platform.
The third SEQUOIA newsletter has been released which contains updates on several areas of project research:
•Single photon detection for entangled photon pairs from MPD •Novel supercontinuum system from NKT •Automatic retinal layer segmentation algorithms by UPV.
Recently, the SEQUOIA consortium met in Nice, France, for the 18M plenary meeting. The hosts, ARDITEC, did a great job in welcoming us to this beautiful city, and it provided an excellent venue for some intense discussions on the work relating to this interesting project. An update on progress will be provided shortly in the next SEQUOIA newsletter.
Both these SEQUOIA partners, Norblis (Booth 2663) and DTU Electro (Booth 2665), will be present at the exhibition. Please drop by and pick up some SEQUOIA merch!
A short video has been released which describes the project topics and objectives, with a quick update on the progress so far. Please take a look and get in touch if you have any questions or comments!
SEQUOIA NCU postdoc, Crislane De Brito, delivered a talk on „Quantum OCT sensing with OAM-entangled light” at the Quantum Speedup event at the Uniwersytet Gdański (20-22 Nov-2023). This presentation covers some of the core aspects of SEQUOIA.
The primary defining aspect of the Quantum Speedup is its inclusive platform, offering individuals the opportunity to communicate and showcase their work. During Speedtalk sessions, scientists present their work within a concise 3-minute timeframe using a single slide, followed by detailed face-to-face discussions during poster sessions.
This event provided excellent opportunities to share new ideas that Crislane is implementing in her work and gather valuable insights from other participants. It was a truly enjoyable experience.
Last week (16-17 Nov-2023) SEQUOIA held its 12M plenary project meeting at TU Delft. This included an online meeting with the SEQUOIA Advisory Board and a presentation from Horizon Europe quantum project MUQUABIS. It was a great opportunity to discuss the conceptually difficult technical details face-to-face. Thanks to Aurele and his team for being such excellent hosts!
A SEQUOIA project public presentation is now available which gives an overview of the topics covered in the project, including a summary of the upcoming targets.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch if you have any specific questions!
